Our puppies

Breeding puppies is Jeannines passion involving the whole family. Everyone cares for the puppies and helps them socialise to become part of a new family as an active and healthy puppy. And later to be a well socialised dog with all abilities to be an active family dog which can participate in dog sports if desired. Jeannine is a registered breeder with dogsNZ to be able to provide and guarantee breeding with healthy blood lines mainly from imported dogs to avoid any incest with possible resulting health issues.

We provide a socialisation scheme with the puppies to make them familiar with everyday activities of an active family. We have them mainly inside of our home for the first few weeks to better care for them and make them used to living with the family with our dogs. This includes getting used to sounds of a family home, i.e. washer, hoover, children, coffee machine etc.

This may sound obvious, but dogs need to get used to their future surroundings at an early age to not be overwhelmed by them at a later age.

Later on we have them more and more outside to get used to outdoor sounds and surroundings, different floor types (tiles, grass, carpet, etc.) and then take them for short trips with a car to make them accustomed to travelling in cars. We also make them used to having a collar and being groomed and cared for. We transition them to dry food slowly. We use Heartypaws puppy dog food being a high quality dog food. Heartypaws is a local NZ company using local ingredients and provide a wheat and grain free dog food. We feed our dogs with their adult dog foods with very good results.

When our puppies move to their new homes they are proivided with a little travel luggage including their favorite toy and a blanket from their whelping box to have a familiar scent present in the first days. They will have their health booklet showing the check-up results from our vet and their chip ID, documenting their initial immunisations and de-worming started. The remaining de-worming tablets are provided with the puppy. The dogsNZ papers for the puppy are included together with copies of their parents health papers and blood lines. They will be chipped and registered with the New Zealand Companion Register. They come with a six week health insurance by pet-n-sur (silver plan) to cover any unexpected early health issues.
